Attention Mac OS X users:
It seems that the latest update for Quicktime (version 7 for Mac) has a new conflict with older compilations for Quicktime in the Safari browser. For the moment please use another browser (Internet Explorer or Fire Fox) and you should be able to access the video clips. We will be looking into this development and talking to the Quicktime developers, and hopefully should have a solution soon.

If you continue to have problems using another browser please let us know.

Browser(s) to use:
PC Users: Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher OR Netscape 4.79 or higher

Macintosh Users: Use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. Recent testing has shown the Macintosh OS to be fully compatible with GayMen.com. If you have troubles accessing GayMen.com with Internet Explorer, please use Netscape 4.5 or higher.

What you need:
Latest version of QuickTime. Please do not use any other video players as the movies are designed to run in QuickTime only.

Note: Do not assume you have the latest version of QuickTime. Check for updates on the QuickTime websites, or follow the directions below.

To auto-detect if you are using the latest version of QuickTime, follow these simple steps:
a.) Open your QuickTime player.
b.) Click Edit > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences.
c.) Select "Update Check" in the list of settings.
d.) Check the box labeled "Check for Updates Automatically".
e.) Close QuickTime and restart the player.

Firewall Users:
For best results, please completely disable your Firewall before trying to use our services.

Cookies
Be certain that you have your COOKIES TURNED ON and set to "ACCEPT COOKIES".

Ad Prevention Software (Pop-up Blockers):
Completely disable any ad prevention software before you enter GayMen.com. Ad prevention software may block access!

AOL Users:
GayMen.com has been fully tested and is compatible with AOL. While our service will work
with the AOL browser, we strongly recommend using the latest version of Internet Explorer
for a more trouble-free experience.

AOL Users: If you wish to use Internet Explorer to view GayMen.com, all you have to do is log into AOL, minimize AOL, and then launch Internet Explorer.

Movies Won't Play:
If you find that movies will not play or do not have sound, clear your browser's cache.
a.) On the top portion of Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu label.
b.) Select Internet Options then click the button labeled "Delete Files...".
c.) Check the box labeled "Delete all offline content", then click OK.

Depending on how many files you have stored in your cache, it may take up to a few minutes to clear.

d.) Check off the Delete all offline content box, then click OK.

This process may take some time and your computer may APPEAR to stop functioning. Please wait at least 5 minutes before canceling this process, as sometimes these files are very large.

e.) When the hourglass changes back into your mouse pointer, click OK to exit the window.

f.) Please do not use the Delete Cookies button, as this may deny you access to the site afterwards.

g.) Close all open browser windows (even if only minimized), then re-launch Internet Explorer.

Windows XP Service Pack 2:
The latest Critical Update from Microsoft for Windows XP (Service Pack 2) has been causing several problems with members' computer configurations.

If you have been experiencing problems accessing sites and links that you were able to access before the update, here are some tips that may help you.

a.) Disable the Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: Launch Internet Explorer. From the Tools pull-down menu Select Pop-up Blocker and then select Turn Off.
b.) Ensure that the browser's Java setting and Microsoft VM are enabled. From the Tools drop-down menu select Internet Options, then click on the Advanced tab in the Internet Options Window.
c.) Scroll down to the Java (Sun) setting and check the Use Java 2v1.4.0_03 for <applet> button. In the Microsoft VM settings right below check the boxes for Java console enables, Java logging enabled and JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled.

Once you have these all checked click OK, then close all of your web browser windows and restart your computer for the new settings to take effect.

You should now be able to access all the feeds as before the Service Pack 2 update.
